There was no price movement in cotton yarn in Ludhiana amid weaker sentiments. A Ludhiana-based trader told Fibre2Fashion, “The market is yet to see improvement in buying. No one wants to buy yarn in declining market.” In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹380-385 per kg (GST inclusive), according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹370-375 per kg and ₹375-380 per kg respectively. Carded yarn of 30 count was quoted at ₹335-340 per kg.

Delhi market noted little bit better buying, but the prices remained steady. A trader told that currently buyers are purchasing only for immediate needs as they feel prices will fall further. However, demand is expected to improve from buying for export orders which can support yarn prices. In Delhi, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹380-385 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹415-420 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹340-345 per kg and 40 count carded at ₹380-385 per kg.

In home furnishing hub of Panipat, the price of recycled yarn registered sluggish trend amid weaker sentiments. A local trader said that demand has not improved yet, and buyers are reluctant about buying from downstream industry due to poor export orders from the US and Europe. So, few counts and varieties of yarn were sold at lower prices. 10s recycled yarn (coloured - low quality) decreased by ₹5 to ₹80-85 per kg. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was also down further by ₹5 per kg. But comber steadied at ₹100 per kg.

In Panipat market, 10s recycled yarn (white) was traded at ₹90-95 per kg (excluding GST), 10s recycled yarn (coloured - high quality) at ₹110-115 per kg, 10s recycled yarn (coloured - low quality) at ₹80-85 per kg and 20s recycled high quality PC yarn (coloured) at ₹125-130 per kg. 10s optical yarn was traded at ₹100-110 per kg in the market. Comber price remained stable at ₹100 per kg. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) came down to ₹85 per kg from ₹90 per kg.

Meanwhile, cotton prices slipped further in north India as mills are very slow for fresh buying. According to traders, cotton arrival was also very negligible amid poor demand. Therefore, cotton trade remained very poor. The price of natural fibre decreased by ₹100-150 per maund of 37.2 kg. Cotton was sold at ₹8,700-8,900 per maund in Punjab, ₹8,000-8,300 per maund in Haryana and ₹8,700-8,900 per maund in upper Rajasthan.
