The ‘Raksha Bandhan’ festival this year will be celebrated with local flavour from all around the country, as many organisations are following the Prime Minister’s call for ‘Vocal for Local’.

This comes at the time when many shops decided to boycott rakhis coming from China and show their solidarity towards the Make in India movement.

Made using indigenous cotton and an assortment of seeds, these rakhis are put together by a group of talented women from a remote village in Madhya Pradesh.

A company called 21Fools makes sustainable products from materials like seed paper, reclaimed wood, handspun cotton yarn, and cork cloth. This company is selling the best alternative to your fancy rakhis – plantable Rakhis!

Raksha Bandhan, a festival of the bond between brothers and sisters, will be celebrated on August 22.
