Delhi market witnessed upward trend as demand improved in last couple of days. Traders now expect better buying in states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi as demand of end products is picking up. A trader from Delhi told Fibre2Fashion, “Millers are not agreeing to sell yarn at previous prices as cotton prices have gained in last weeks. Mills will not sell yarn at losses. They are getting support from buyers also for increase in prices.” 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹375-380 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹415-420 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹340-345 per kg and 40 count carded at ₹375-380 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.

Cotton yarn prices increased in Ludhiana market amid strong buying. Costlier cotton and better buying from weaving industry supported prices of cotton yarn. According to the traders, festival demand is expected to rise in the weeks to come. Higher trend in cotton prices is also supporting prices of yarn. Sources said that positive sentiments are likely to continue. In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹382-387 per kg (GST inclusive) with gain of ₹8 per kg, as per TexPro. 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹372-377 per kg and ₹377-382 per kg respectively. Carded yarn of 30 count was quoted at ₹337-342 per kg.

There was better buying of recycled yarn in Panipat. The prices of recycled yarn of higher counts gained up to ₹10 per kg in last one week. but yarn of lower counts was sold at previous level. According to traders, buyers have returned to the market. They expect all counts of yarn to gain in next few days. “Demand will pick up for yarn for production of home furnishing products. Yarn of higher counts gained because of better demand from garment industry which is consuming recycled yarn to substitute costlier virgin yarn.” In Panipat market, 30 count recycled yarn was sold at ₹170-175 per kg (excluding GST) with increase of ₹10 per kg. But recycled yarn of lower count remained stable. 10s recycled yarn (white) was traded at ₹90-95 per kg (excluding GST), 10s recycled yarn (coloured - high quality) at ₹110-115 per kg, 10s recycled yarn (coloured - low quality) at ₹80-85 per kg and 20s recycled high quality PC yarn (coloured) at ₹125-130 per kg. 10s optical yarn was traded at ₹100-110 per kg in the market. Comber prices gained to ₹140-148 per kg which was sold at ₹122-127 per kg in last week. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) also inched up to ₹92 per kg from ₹90 per kg.

Meanwhile, cotton prices in north India remained steady today amid thin trade and limited buying. However, the prices had witnessed upward trend in last one week as domestic prices found support from rise in ICE cotton. According to traders, cotton arrival will not improve in next 45 to 60 days. Therefore, the prices may witness upward trend, but buyers are likely to remain reluctant at such a high price. Cotton was traded at ₹10,500-10,700 per maund of 37.2 kg in Punjab, ₹9,800-10,200 per maund in Haryana and ₹9,700-9,900 per maund in upper Rajasthan.
