About 10-12 new varieties of yarns were launched –first time in the country’s textile sector– at the fourth edition of ‘Yarn Expo 2022’ organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI).
The three-day-long event, held at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC) in Sarsana, started on 20 August.
Yarn Expo 2022 was inaugurated by Darshana Jardosh, Union Minister of State for Textiles and Railways in the presence of prominent personalities like RD Udeshi, President of the polyester chain and J Raghunath, Vice-President, Reliance Industries Limited’s (RIL).
The three-day-long exhibition will see participation from about 86 exhibitors affiliated with India’s yarn sector to display a wide range of yarn varieties.
This will include polyester, nylon, viscose, cotton and cationic, special variety yarn and also, anti-bacterial yarn, imitate silk yarn, granite yarn and recycled yarn.
The newly invented Rasel Jari and Sparkle Jari from Surat are on display at the Yarn Expo 2022 for the first time. These are used in manufacturing home furnishing fabrics. The jari yarn manufacturers in Surat invented the new varieties three months ago.
“The fourth edition of Yarn Expo 2022 will have the attraction of about 10-12 new yarns to be introduced in India’s textile sector for the first time. Yarn Expo has become India’s largest expo for the textile sector and is growing bigger and bigger every year”, said Himanshu Bodawala, President, SGCCI.
He further added that the SGCCI is expecting about 20,000 business visitors from India and abroad to visit the Yarn Expo.
