Surat: Sachin police in Surat have booked four persons who run a Youtube channel for demanding Rs 10 lakh from a company owner by blackmailing him through a fake video alleging the disposal of chemical waste in rainwater by the company.
Navin Sureshbhai Jangid (age 35, lives in Om Sai residency in Palsana) works as a commercial manager in a company manufacturing polyester yarn named Gokulnand petrofibres in Hojiwala industrial estate. Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) conducts a visit to the company once in three months. Navinbhai had informed his boss Kaushikbhai about the flow of water with color chemicals in the drain of rainwater outside the company’s gate on 10th August. Kaushikbhai received a message from a person named Gabhru Bharwad on WhatsApp after a few days. He then sent a video of the Gauraksha Sandesh News Youtube Channel. The video showed that the company spread pollution by disposing of toxic chemicals in drains and farms.
Kaushikbhai informed Ranchhodbhai about it, who runs a transport contract in the company. Gabhru Bharwad allegedly demanded Rs 8 to 10 lakh to end the matter. When Kaushikbhai checked CCTV outside the company, he found two people making videos after disposing of chemical waste by themself. They gave threats to inform the GPCB and cause a large penalty to the company. Navinbhai gave the CCTV footage to the police and filed a complaint against Gabhru Bhimabhai Bharwad (lives in Navkar residency, Sachin GIDC), Naju Revabhai Bharwad (lives in slum board, Sachin), Lalo Bharwad (lives in Pardi), and Kanubhai Bharwad (lives in slum board, Sachin).
