This report looks at general trends in the international yarn and fabric machinery market and provides detailed analyses of various yarn and fabric machinery subsectors. 2018 was a mixed year for the international textile machinery market.
Shipments of draw texturing machinery and shuttleless weaving machinery rose but there were declines in shipments of spinning machinery and knitting machinery. Shipments of short staple spindles and open-end rotors also declined, and shipments of long staple spindles fell sharply.
Meanwhile, shipments of single heater false-twist draw texturing spindles soared to a record high and shipments of double heater false-twist draw texturing spindles rose to their highest level since 2013. Shipments of shuttleless looms rose in 2018 but there were falls in shipments of single jersey knitting machinery, double jersey knitting machinery and electronic flatbed knitting machinery.
Shipments of yarn and fabric machinery to mills in China were largely in line with world shipments, reflecting the fact that a large share of global shipments go to the Chinese textile industry. Outside China, there were increases in shipments of eight of the nine major types of yarn and fabric machinery to the textile industries in Uzbekistan and Japan, and there were increases in shipments of six of the nine major types of machinery to the industries in Cambodia, Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey and Vietnam.
Meanwhile, there were declines in shipments of most types of machinery to the industries in a number of Western countries, including Brazil, Italy, Mexico, the UK and the USA.
